Evampelοs Ghi Line

The Evampelos Ghi line, consisting of three white and two red wines, bears the company logo, which is the rosette of Melitaia (archaeological finding at the namesake location near Domokos). It draws its name from the location of the vineyard at Ambelia Gerakliou, as it has always been the area where the vines of the wider region of the Municipality of Domokos were cultivated.

Deep purple colour, with a rich aromatic palette of red forest fruits, violet, chocolate and spices. The rich phenolic potential and the long-term aging of the wine in barrels offer a velvety character following a long-lasting and sweet aftertaste. Long-term ageing potential in the bottle for 10-12 years

Combined with: veal steak, lamb

WINE GROWING REGION

Gerakli, Domokos, Fthiotida, Central Greece

VINEYARD

Privately owned vineyard on Gerakli slopes: 1.85 hectares Cabernet Sauvignon and 0.8 hectares Syrah, at an altitude of 400 meters, with an 8% slope and northwest orientation. In the basin of the area where the vineyard is located, in large parts of the soil, in a less than 60 cm depth, large calcium quantities can be found that give wines a special character. Planting year 1997 and 1998.

SOIL FORMATION

Sandy clay, medium deep soil with a high percentage of gravel (about 35%).

CLIMATIC CONDITIONS

Winter and spring with heavy rainfall. Hot and dry summer days with cool summer evenings (temperature difference up to 15°C). This contributes to the excellent grape phenolic maturity.

YIELD PER HECTARE

20-22hl/ha

VINIFICATION PROCESS:

Grape hand picking, destemming, pre-fermentation extraction at 10-12°C (for 48 hours), alcoholic fermentation and long post-fermentation extractions in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures.

MATURATION

18 months in French and American oak barrels and 6 months in the bottle
